Turbine XL Vegas

Perrelet is upping the stakes and throwing the dice again with the TURBINE XL VEGAS collection, a winning three of a kind with three new models. The décor of all of these special editions in limited series of 250 examples each was inspired by the elegant universe of the casino and world capital of entertainment.

Tuxedos, card games, roulette and green mats. Perrelet is betting on the fun side and playing on its own skill to bring three new Turbine timepieces to life in XL 48 mm-diameter versions: Turbine XL Poker; Turbine XL Playing With Fire; Turbine XL Roulette.

The Turbine XL Poker conceals a winning hand that is only revealed when the titanium turbine spins at full speed and turn by turn displays a fan of cards decorating the under-dial: a pair of sevens and two Royal Flushes, one spades and one hearts. Plenty of ways to bluff your way to a win!

Gold ignites the under-dial of the Turbine XL Playing With Fire. The pure refinement of a golden base radiantly illuminates the black case, of which the somber elegance highlights the clarity of the gold-toned hands and hour-markers. According to the speed of the turbine’s rotation, the gold shines, erupting in glowing splendour between the blades until it fuses into a profision of luminous bouquets.

The Turbine XL Roulette is dedicated to the queen of gaming saloons. The red and black divisions of the famous “wheel of fortune” compose an original motif on the under-dial and make the turbine an ideal ally in revealing the winning numbers. The white hour and minute hands bring to mind the pristine white of the ball thrown by the croupier, discreetly reproduced under the Turbine and immobilised on the number 7, Perrelet’s symbolic number. Place your bets!

All the watches in the Turbine XL Vegas collection feature PVD-coated steel cases and are fitted with black rubber straps. Perrelet has equipped these timepieces with the Manufacture P-331 self-winding movement.

Spotlight on immaculate purity with the new Turbine Diver White model

Perrelet’s iconic Turbine Diver collection welcomes a new model featuring a pure steel case exalting the pristine appeal of a white rubber strap. The 11-blade turbine with its rounded curves evokes the shape of a submarine propeller. As it spins freely over the SuperLuminova-covered surface, this distinctive element creates the illusion of an entirely luminescent dial that naturally becomes more intense in nocturnal darkness or at great depths. The Arabic numerals, the main indications as well as the lightly black-rimmed hour and minute hands are also coated in SuperLuminova.

Turbine Snake Limited Edition

Far Eastern traditions and culture once again inspire Perrelet, which is issuing this special edition of the Turbine watch to celebrate the Chinese year of the snake. The under-dial of the iconic Turbine model becomes a canvas upon which the Perrelet master artisans express their creativity by giving shape to a unique and original work paying tribute to the majestic beauty of the serpent. According to popular Chinese beliefs, snakes are said to bring good luck and to ward off misfortune.

The reptile is meticulously reproduced by hand in magnificent detail: against a neutral white mother-of-pearl background, the animal appears in all its majestic splendour, crafted from Polynesian mother-of-pearl that defines its profile and the individual scales. Its eye glows with the light radiating from a 0.025-carat ruby.

This motif is framed by a total-black DLC-coated steel 44 mm-diameter case, teamed with a superb black crocodile leather strap. The understated elegance of this watch is further enhanced by the decision to accentuate the superb dark effect by choosing a turbine composed of 12 rapidly rotating black titanium blades alternately revealing the beauty of the serpent beneath.

The Turbine Snake is issued in a 99-piece numbered limited edition, equipped with the exclusive in-house P-331 double rotor movement.

A New Setting In Wich To Present The Turbine Chrono And Turbillon

Baselworld 2013 was an edition brimming with new launches and successes for Perrelet which took the opportunity of the event’s overall renewal to redesign its own booth – an elegantly welcoming two-floor, 412 square-metre exhibition area. Designed by architects Manini-Pietrini of Neuchâtel, its combination of simple lines and complex volumes vividly evoke the delicate mechanisms involved in time measurement.

Two key actors on this new stage were the two major new launches in the iconic Turbine collection: TURBINE CHRONO and TURBILLON. Perrelet’s famous model was thus for the first time equipped with complications. The new collections expressed a determination to pursue a distinctive path that involves offering timepieces increasingly highlighting their horological substance and the brand’s technical expertise.

For the new Turbine Chrono collection, Perrelet has opted for the technical solution of a central chronograph playing on the concept of superimposed levels. The chronograph measurements are made by a central chronograph seconds hand and a 60-minute counter composed of two juxtaposed sapphire crystal elements. A mobile disc bearing the indications rotates in the centre of a fixed ring equipped with a red arrow with the inscription “min” and displaying the recorded times. The transparent chronograph counter ensures that the upper rotor remains perfect readable. The Turbine Chrono collection was launched in five versions, of which the most precious features a pink gold turbine.

With the Turbillon watch – as in Tur(bine) plus (Tour)billon – the brand draws upon its own know-how to create an original, ultra-refined turbine cut from sapphire crystal. The transparent blades discreetly enliven the dial and unexpectedly reveal the brand-new Perrelet tourbillon. The prestigious mechanism incorporates an innovative escapement with oxidised silicon wheel and lever, at the heart of an exclusive self-winding movement developed by the group’s company based in the Vallée de Joux and featuring hand-crafted finishing including a delicate Côtes de Genève motif adorning the baseplate and bridges revealed through the back of the watch. The collection comprises three models, each issued in a 20-piece limited edition.

The international press and customers visiting the booth notably appreciated the new openness towards complications of the Turbine collection, which thereby more vividly than ever embodies the true spirit of the brand.

The champion continues to indulge his passion for creations from Perrelet, of which he is a longstanding admirer. Right from his first encounter with the brand in Paris back in 2008, Christian Karembeu has remained loyal to the company and regularly chooses to wear Perrelet watches on various occasions in order to accompany him during his intensely busy days.

Today, Christian Karembeu alternates between two models that express both the Perrelet spirit and the athlete’s own understated and sporting personality.

For day to day urban wear, Christian has chosen the steel version of the Peripheral Double Rotor watch, won over by the innovative design of a watch that honours watchmaking tradition by offering a contemporary take on classical lines.

Karembeu’s passions for sport and open-air life are catered for by the choice of a Turbine Diver watch with black rubber strap, a timepiece that rises to all manner of challenges while ensuring maximum technical performance and comfort.

Christian Karembeu

Karembeu is an international football star who forged his 15-year sports career by focusing on his athletic ability and his charisma.

Born into a large family that hailed from New Caledonia, Karembeu took his first sporting steps in France in 1990 with the Nantes football team, and played in the French championship until 1995, before being transferred to the Italian team Sampdoria.

In 1997, he switched to Real Madrid, with which he won the Champions League in 1998 and 2000. During these years, Christian also played on the French national team, with which he was capped 53 times and won the World Cup in 1998.

After a brief experience with Middlesbrough in the British Premier League, he joined the Olimpiakos team where he remained until 2004, when he transferred to Servette (Geneva).

His sports career officially ended in 2005. Christian Karembeu is currently intensely involved in a number of different activities, including serving as founder and active supporter of two charities, and working as a TV presenter.
