The automatic movement (Perrelet P-101 calibre) of this extraordinary timepiece presents two major complications which never fail to impress on a visual level. On the dial side, a retrograde second hand travels in an arc for 60 seconds and jumps to 0 to resume its course, while, on the movement side, an exclusive mechanism consisting of two parallel rotors in 18-carat gold which turn unilaterally to recharge the barrel is featured.
Not only the movement itself, but also all additions and transformations of components such as pinions, wheels and bridges are designed in association with Zurich based master watchmaker Paul Gerber.
This rare model is only available in a limited edition of 100 pieces: 50 in pink gold and 50 in white gold. These are divided into four different dial versions, each group containing 25 pieces. Each watch is numbered both on the movement and on the back of the case and is delivered with a hand-signed certificate.
Paul Gerber and Perrelet:
“I have great pleasure in being associated with the revival of the Perrelet brand by being involved in the development of a limited retrograde second series, cased in white or pink gold. This pleasure is all the greater given that, today more than ever before, this brand pays tribute to Abraham-Louis Perrelet, one of the greatest watchmakers of his time and inventor of the automatic winding system which I have reinterpreted through this parallel double rotor mechanism.”
